In recognition of the life-changing impact rehabilitation services have on the lives of many people in Toronto, Mayor John Tory, on behalf of Toronto City Council, proclaimed September 17, 2019 as the first annual Rehabilitation Day.
At Toronto Rehab we celebrated the clinicians and staff who deliver compassionate care, and the scientists dedicated to pioneering advancements in recovery, safety and adaptation. Boom 97.3 FM host Stu Jeffries emceed a special ceremony for them at Toronto Rehab’s University Centre that featured expressions of gratitude by:
- Lynn Guerriero, Assistant Deputy Minister, Ontario Health Insurance Plan Division, Ministry of Health
- Dr. Kevin Smith, President & CEO of University Health Network
- Dr. Mark Bayley, Physiatrist-in-Chief UHN & Medical Program Director Rehab at Toronto Rehab
- Toronto Rehab patient Danielle Kane
We are grateful to new corporate partner VRPlayin for donating all proceeds from their virtual reality sessions on Rehabilitation Day to Toronto Rehab Foundation. They showcased the power of virtual reality for rehabilitation with their immersive technology while raising additional funds through raffle prizes.
