Marathoners support Toronto Rehab

News Archive
We are grateful to our former patients, staff, families and friends who participated in this year’s Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Charity Challenge on October 22, 2017. Together, they raised over $90,000 in support of the incredible research and care at Toronto Rehab.

We congratulate all our participants and thank you for your outstanding fundraising efforts, including the following teams:

  • Bickle Outrunners
  • Lakeside Caring Hearts
  • Runners with Heart 2017
  • Team I WILL - view photos
Founded by Robert MacDonald to give back to Toronto Rehab for helping him defy 5% odds of ever walking again following a 30 foot fall, Team I WILL is a growing, dynamic community where many meaningful, lasting friendships have been cultivated. Its members are supported in overcoming obstacles, building new aspirations and realizing their greatest potential while raising money for Toronto Rehab Foundation.

This year, the team was 100 members strong; crossing the finish lines of the marathon, half marathon and 5K events. New Team I WILL members included Nick Schoenhoff who was faced with having to rebuild his body and entire life following a snowboarding accident that left him diagnosed as a quadriplegic at age 13. He credits Toronto Rehab’s Lyndhurst Centre Spinal Cord Rehab Program for playing a critical role in his adult recovery and giving him the confidence to build a meaningful life. A life that includes an Honours Life Science degree from McMaster University, a full-time career, and staying active through pursuits such as kayaking, hand-cycling and other adaptive sports.

Toronto Rehab is home to the number one rehabilitation research centre in the world and is truly Where Incredible Happens. Learn about Upcoming Events in support of Toronto Rehab.
